Kind Of A Strange Story…

January 25th, 2010 . by Doc

So, I get a message from my youngest daughter (whom I don’t have much contact with):

"did your sister from Los Angeles ever get ahold of you to tell you about your brother?"

I write back and say "no." and get:

ok – so this might sound as crazy to you now as it did me at the time and you should know.

< ?xml:namespace prefix = o />About 2 1/2 – 3 years ago i get a call out of the blue from a Hispanic lady down in LA. At the time, the phone was in Stans name when he lived with me. She said she was looking for her long lost brother Stan King. I said my brothers name is Stan King and she said he would be in his fifties and so i told her my dad’s name is Stan King. She asked if you’re brothers names were Anthony and George and I said i think so and then she flipped out happy. She said she was your sister. From what I thought, i thought your sister had passed away at a young age right? I told her she couldnt be your sister.

She said she was the offspring resulting from an affair that your father had. Here’s the weird part. She said that he had an affair with her Hispanic mother and shortly after joined the KKK and booted her mother and their children out of town so no one would find out he had Mexican kids and she never saw him since. She wanted to get ahold of you to let you know that your brother had passed away. Please forgive me because I don’t remember which one she was talking about and I didnt keep her name or number because i was a little freaked out. I don’t know if she said George or maybe one of her siblings. I’m sorry, i don’t remember but i thought you should know and you can investigate if you’d like.

So, it’s Internet Search Time! And guess what? After several misdirections I Found My Little Sister Mina! Too cool. Of course, I didn’t know that until she called me back after leaving a couple dozen messages at different Mina’s. I’d swear the last time I saw her was when she was 6 but she claims I saw her when she was about 18. I have absolutely no remembrance of that. She just turned 45 (she can’t be that old!) and has almost half a dozen kids of her own. Cool!

So, we talked for a couple of hours getting caught up. Turns out my brother Tommy died about 3 years ago from medical complications and/or Epilepsy. I can’t really miss him any more than I already have as I haven’t seen nor heard from him in about 10 years. Sorry he’s gone but there’s not much I can do about it.

Now to try to find my brother George. Haven’t seen him since 88 and haven’t heard from him at all since 92 when our Mom died. Last I heard he was living down Denver, Colorado way…

Anti-Gun Senator Shoots Intruder

Untitled

Long time Anti-Gun Advocate State Senator R.C. Soles, 74, shot one of two intruders at his home just outside Tabor City, N.C. about 5 p.m. Sunday, the prosecutor for the politician’s home county said.

The victim, Kyle Blackburn, was taken to a South Carolina hospital, but the injuries were not reported to be life-threatening, according to Rex Gore, district attorney for Columbus, Bladen andBrunswick counties..

The State Bureau of Investigation and Columbus County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the shooting, Gore said. Soles, who was not arrested, declined to discuss the incident Sunday evening.

“I am not in a position to talk to you,” Soles said by telephone. “I’m right in the middle of an investigation.”

The Senator, who has made a career of being against gun ownership for the general public, didn’t hesitate to defend himself with his own gun when he believed he was in immediate danger and he was the victim.

In typical hypocritical liberal fashion, the “Do As I Say, Not As I Do” Anti-Gun Activist Lawmaker picked up his gun and took action in what apparently was a self-defense shooting. Why hypocritical you may ask? It is because his long legislative record shows that the actions that he took to protect his family, his own response to a dangerous life threatening situation, are actions that he feels ordinary citizens should not have if they were faced with an identical situation.

It has prompted some to ask if the Senator believes his life and personal safety is more valuable than yours or mine.
But, this is to be expected from those who believe they can run our lives, raise our kids, and protect our families better than we can.

It’s Friday? Again?

January 15th, 2010 . by Doc

Just not much going on around here. What with all the rain we’re getting it’s hard to get outside and burn brush or anything. Still finishing up the bookcases I’ve built for the library (molding and stuff) and finally got off my ass and started the shelves for the DVD’s and CD’s down in the "man cave" but even that can get boring when that’s all you do. Finally watched/ripped season 3 of "Heroes" and those episodes are on the media drives now. I need a couple of those new 2 Terabyte drives! Don’t let me win the lotto!

ohshit

Feeding the Missionaries tomorrow evening. Kielbasa & Sour kraut with taters all cooked in the same crockpot. Started it tonight as I’ll be going over to my friends house in the morning to download our favorite shows and I’m not sure what time I’ll get home. We’ll see how that goes as sour kraut is kind of an acquired taste.

SWMBO and I went on our Friday date early today. She took me to the Family Pancake House in Port Orchard for breakfast. Had the Hobo Omlette; which has a bit of everything in it and topped with a couple of containers of salsa is pretty good. Afterwards we stopped at Big 4 Sporting Goods and bought new shoes. Work boots for $15 on sale. Cool. I got two. Pair. Then we made our usual stop at Albertson’s and spent too much money again. Frozen Veggies were on sale and I can’t resist frozen veggies on sale.

I am getting pretty sick and tired of this dial up Internet though!

And Now The News?

Headline: Anger grows in quake-hit Haiti over aid delay

PORT-AU-PRINCE (Reuters) – Desperate Haitians set up roadblocks with corpses in Port-au-Prince on Thursday to demand quicker relief efforts after a massive earthquake killed tens of thousands and left countless others homeless.
Ok, let me get this straight. Haitians are pissed because we aren’t sending help fast enough for them? They "demand" quicker relief efforts? I know this is a "Me Me Me Mine Mine Mine" world but it seems to me They should be happy with anything They get when they get it. It just amazes me that people everywhere think they are entitled to whatever they need "just because." Reminds me of those buttheads that didn’t heed the Katrina warnings… Don’t get me wrong, I do have feelings of compassion for the quake victims and I donated to the cause. I just think they ought to get off their duffs and help themselves before ’demanding’ aid from outside of the country. And how in the hell can you DEMAND help anyway?
Headline: Obama proposes bank fee, slams Wall Street

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama on Thursday proposed Wall Street banks pay up to $117 billion to reimburse taxpayers for the financial bailout, as he slammed bankers for their "massive profits and obscene bonuses

Wait! Weren’t they supposed to pay back the bail out money in the first place? How about if they pay back ALL of it!

Headline: Men more evolved? Y chromosome study stirs debate

WASHINGTON – Women may think of men as primitive, but new research indicates that the Y chromosome — the thing that makes a man male — is evolving far faster than the rest of the human genetic code

So There! But I can answer the question: Why? It’s Women! We HAVE to stay ahead of them in order to survive and go fishing. By using our genetic advantage we can come up with excuses like: "Yes, dear. Bowling increases my sexual desire for you and that’s why I’m down at the lanes all the time." and "Beer makes me sexy." and "No, those shorts definitely DO NOT make your ass look bigger." (That last being a prime example of survival instincts kicking in…)

Headline: Cocaine Found in NASA Space Shuttle Hangar

NASA has launched an extensive investigation to determine how a small amount of cocaine ended up in a space shuttle hangar at the agency’s Florida spaceport.

Well, weren’t they looking for a cheaper method of getting the shuttle high? Hey, check the guy with the mop! Or the guy that looks like he’s been through the wind tunnel…

I’m outta here….
