You Want To Talk About SSDD?

January 30th, 2009 . by Doc

Then stick around ’cause it’s 100% SSDD around here. Mostly.

Mostly spend my days just hanging around the house. Have gotten a bit of scanning done. Cleaned the place up. Trained the dogs. You know; normal everyday boring stuff.

Did give away Jeff to our Home Teacher’s daughter. Kinda sad to see him go. Not really. Kim wants Mutt this Sunday. Not soon enough for me. This is the most ’clingy’ dog I have ever seen in my life. At least he’s learned to poop outside. Trying to get him to ’play’ hasn’t really worked. Yet.

Did meet our GeoTech (Engineer) at the property today for his walk around. I left with promises of what he was going to write up for Mason County and he left with a check for $995. Steve does good work though. He probably needs to work on speed though… It was cold and foggy up there today and there was still snow on the ground. I got so cold my toes hurt. Brrr. Digger did not want to start.

Downloaded Smallville & Supernatural this morning before heading out to the property. Watched it earlier this evening. They’re on the verge of losing me. Bringing Lana back was a mistake. Giving her a ’supersuit’ is almost unforgivable. She’s got to take off to some other place that needs a superhero. If Clark can’t get together with Chloe then he ought to get together with Lois. And where are the other characters that make up this story?

Now I’m a CSI freak. Like CSI Miami also. Couldn’t be one but I like watching them.

Still ripping movies to my media server when I can. Drives are getting full.

And really that’s about all that’s happening around here. I told y’all; I lead a very boring life.

Watched (most of) something called “Disaster Movie”. It Sucked!

We had a 4.5 quake? I was asleep and didn’t feel a thing.

Headline: Tour bus crashes near Hoover Dam, killing 6. Watch the tour company charge the survivors more for the ’unexpected’ thrill ride.

Headline: Gov’t launches criminal probe in peanut recall . How long before we hear the term “PeanutGate?” Any takers?

Headline: Stocks’ January drop isn’t welcome sign for 2009 . Duh. Ya Think?!?

Headline: House set to vote again on analog shutdown delay . Isn’t it amazing that the Govt has been telling us for the past couple of years exactly when the switch over was going to be but “Millions” still aren’t ready? I say: Fuck ’em. If they’re that stupid (probably from being glued to the boob tube) then they deserve what they get. Or don’t get as it were.

Headline: Virtual heroics: Gamers can try NYC river landing . I gotta admit, I did it but with MSFSX & X-Plane 9.

Headline: Fire station burns after cooking mishap . Cool!

The Great Experiment Continues…

January 26th, 2009 . by Doc

So, last Thursday the Cable Guy shows up to put a ’video filter’ on our cable since we did turn in our cable box and opt for (faster) Internet Only Access. Other than that being Smallville night I really didn’t have any problems with it. We’ve been wondering if we can survive on what we already have and Netflix. So far, except for missing the news in the mornings, I haven’t had much of a problem. AAAaaaarrrrgggghhhhh! Actually, living off what we have hasn’t been too bad but I really have to get off my ass and rip the rest of my dvd’s.

Wow, what’s been going on? Covered finding the puppies. They’ve pretty well integrated themselves into the household for the meantime. They’re a bouncy bunch! Poop Dog has had to assert his "This is MY place and you’ll behave" mode a couple of times. Haven’t seen the cat. Got a couple of people that want to come over and look at them with the possibility of taking one or both home with them. Hope they do and I hope they Hurry! I guess I’ve established myself as their pack leader as I can’t even get up to go piss without both of them wagging their way behind me. They Appear to have become house trained easily though. If I were going to keep them I’d have to get a lot more chew toys though.

Not much else going on. Weather is sunny but COLD today. About where it’s supposed to be actually. Listening to Quicksilver Messenger Service (Mona! & Calvary)

Talked to our GeoTech and I’ll be meeting him at the property around 1000 Thursday morning to look over the house site.

Anyone want a dog? These’ll get big enough to make a BIG pot of stew!

Found A Couple Of Puppies…

January 24th, 2009 . by Doc

Decided to get the Hell out of the house today and make my usual (weather permitting) run up to the property and get a couple of hours in on the digger. Headed up our driveway and turned into the ’canyon’ (about half way up) and two animals started running up the road. Looked sort of like dogs but wasn’t sure. But I was right behind them all the way to the clearing. Turned out to be a couple of puppies (older puppies to be sure) that were living in the pile of stuff our Contractor left on the property. They barked at me awhile but I won them over with Vienna sausages. Got them to come closer and closer and finally they were piling in my lap wanting to be petted. I think they’ve known people but were dropped off. They couldn’t have been up there more than a couple of days as I didn’t see them the last time I was at the property. (Maybe 2-3 days ago. I’m too old to remember.)

But, what was I to do. I could leave them there but was worried that they would a) eventually get killed or die or b) grow up living in that stuff and one day when I went to the property I’d be facing two wild dogs defending their territory. Or I could get them into the truck, take them home and try to find homes for them. Guess which I did. They’re really friendly pups and really haven’t been any problem (YET!) but Poop Dog is having trouble figuring out what’s going on. The cat totally freaked out!

So we have Mutt (the dark guy) & Jeff (the not dark guy) visiting for a few days. I hope it’s only a few days. Please… (I’m not really an animal person.)

I’ll play catch-up later…

My Week. Should Be In A Nut Shell…

January 18th, 2009 . by Doc

Been cold and cloudy (mostly) and I just haven’t been doing much. Little ripping. Little scanning. Lot of listening to the tv. Did I mention that we got rid of cable tv and went to a faster internet connection only? (Guess I ought to read my own blog!)

Big thing for me this week was the return of Smallville & Battlestar Galactica. So Thursday night 2000-2100 I was glued to the tv set. Friday night 2200-2300 again.

Smallville: Nice show. Liked the “Legon” but thought that anyone from the year 3000 would speak completely different than we do. Look how much speech and slang and idioms have changed just since 1800 or so. (That’s the year 1800; not the hour!) Remember when “gay” meant happy? Other than that I liked the episode.

BSG: Well! Earth was a Cylon Colony. Starbuck finds her own dead body. Sol, Terrell et al having memories from 2000 years before. When Dee killed herself I damned near came up off the couch! Damn!

Finally got out to the property for a couple of hours Saturday. Sun came out. It was almost nice. No, it was nice, just cold. Still, the sun was out and I was on my digger accomplishing something. Sun was great! I’d have gotten naked if it had been, oh, 30 or 40 degrees warmer.

Headline: ’Anything possible,’ Obama tells joyous crowd” – Really? My Ex- could give me back all that alimony I’ve paid over the years? Cool! I’ll just sit over in the corner here until the check arrives…

Headline: Mich. dad told to pay for child’s birth or wed mom. Which is a double jeopardy thing, isn’t it? Let’s see; pay for the birth (and child support for 18+ years) or marry the mom and just turn over any money he makes for the rest of my life. Hmmm…

Headline: 5 white-knuckled minutes aboard Flight 1549. What they don’t mention in the News is that 4 people had to be crowbar’d from their seats cause their anal sphincters were cinched up tight…

Headline: Many Ill. voters resigned to political corruption. Wanting To Take Part In Same. News at 11.

Headline: Former Okla. sheriff convicted of rape, bribery. Please put him in General Population.

Headline: US military deaths in Iraq war at 4,228. And I’m beginning to wonder: Why?

Y’all have a nice one!
