Even so, there’s still an awful lot of it still hanging off the back of me!
Been up at the property the last couple of days moving dirt. Premiere Rentals delivered the Dozer I rented for the week yesterday at 0930 and I was on it pretty much the rest of the day. The "Dome Hole" is no longer a hole. After two full days of pushing dirt around it’s now one big mostly flat area to build the new ICF home we’re trying to build. But am I tired when I get home! Last night I went to bed at 2230 and went right to sleep. Woke up at 0600 this A.M. and thought I might as well get up as the alarm was set for 0630 anyway. Next thing I know the alarm has gone off. Damn! All that noise and bouncing around gives me a headache…
Don’t know when I’m going to be catching up here for awhile. Starting tomorrow I’m gonna be busy. Rented a Dozer for a week so I’ll be up at the property early every day and stay late. Gonna get my $1500 worth! The week after I’ll be concentrating on finishing up cutting the downed trees to length and getting them to the bottom of the hill then calling someone to sell them. Then I’ll concentrate on cutting enough wood to fill our ’woodshed.’ Then renting a splitter again and getting that done and stacked. Gotta disassemble the woodstove and give it (and the flue) a good cleaning. So, I’m gonna be busy (busier?) for the next couple of weeks. Last Monday: I stayed home and got most of the things I’ve been putting off done. Dishes. Laundry. Straightened up the damned living room. Been watching Sci-Fi Horror Flicks since noon. (Well, not watching. Listening to mostly.) Ripped the 178th Annual General Conference-April 2008 & 15 Hymn discs for SWMBO. Tuesday: Cut the logs in the clearing to length and dragged them down the hill. SWMBO made dinner. Fish sticks for me. Chicken for her. More dishes for me…. @ 2110 is was raining HARD! Wednesday: Went to the property. Came home early from the property. Too wet & muddy. Cut one log to length and moved it to the bottom of the hill. Scary to be going along and have one (or both) tracks suddenly start spinning but not going anywhere! Except in circles! Not good when pulling a 1000 lb log. Been raining like a bitch off and on. Got up at 0600. Maybe I’ll be able to go to sleep early and sleep until the alarm goes off without staying awake until 0300 when SWMBO gets home from the office. We’ll see. POURED rain off and on all afternoon/evening. I mean poured! Spilled tea into my keyboard last night. Some of the numerical keypad stick now… Thursday: Today. Got SWMBO up early to take her to the 1000 showing of "The Dark Knight". Too bad they changed the showtime to 1230. At least I got notified of the change before we left the house! So we went to breakfast at the FHP in Port Orchard then to the movie then on back home so SWMBO could get some work done today. Excellent movie! Really enjoyed it! Heath Ledger played a wonderful Joker! I really thought he was excellent in the part.
You maybe expected different? I don’t DO different.
Sunday: I went (drum roll please) Out To The Property. Kind of late but I got out there and pushed a couple of trees over. Will this never end? Was really overcast and kinda sorta cool out so I didn’t just lay around much. Sunday evening I spent "making music" with Magix Musicmaker to some of the videos I’m made lately. Converted them to .flv files and posted them on my video site. Here’s a short video of the moon I took Saturday evening. Thought the color was interesting…
Monday: Stayed around the house even thought it was nice and hot. Just too much to do. SWMBO and I made a trip to COSTCO and got sodas and stuff. Wasted some time in FSX and playing with X-Plane 9. Here’s a short video I made I call "Let’s See If The Passengers Are Awake!" Every once in awhile the Fighter Pilot in me comes out to play…
Today, Tuesday I did get out to the property for more of the same. Still like being out there of course. Sometimes it seems like a move a butt-ton of dirt and still it looks like I haven’t done much of anything. I need a dozer for a few days… Got home and made Taco’s for SWMBO; except she doesn’t like the taco shells. She uses tortillas instead. And Sour Cream! Gads! Was going to work on her cabinet and try to get the drawers done but will probably do that tomorrow when she goes into her office. The road to the property will be closed tomorrow for repair of the temporary bridge. I could go the long way around; but will probably not. Gas is just too damned expensive! I spent $25 for gas for my truck and $27 for desiel for the digger today. Phew!
Friday: Went out for breakfast at FPH in Port Orchard as SWMBO was going to drive to Seattle to visit with one of her friends (Anne). I wasn’t feeling to well so, after a trip to Home Depot to get some wood to try to redo those drawers I’m making for SWMBO, I really kind of just vegged around the house all day. And all night. SWMBO didn’t get home until way late. Yeah, I was kinda sorta upset about it too. She could have at least called.
Today, Saturday: Got up late (for me) and really didn’t get my day started until well after SWMBO left for the Genealogy Library. Didn’t get out to the property until after 1300. Pushed a couple of trees over and moved some dirt around. Got home after 1700 and really was too tired to cook; not to mention that I was really hungry. So SWMBO took me to Burger King with a short stop at WalMart for some "sky" fabric.
I was looking through the games section while SWMBO was looking at fabric and found X-Plane 9. SWMBO split the cost with me. $50. Phew! Nice program. Came with 5 scenery discs. Over 60gig of scenery. Cool! Of course it still doesn’t want to run with full graphics on my machine. You’d think that a 2.5ghz computer with 1gig or ram would run just about anything. Guess I need a better video card or something.
Not much else going on. Just wasted away this evening playing with X-Plane and kinda sorta listening to the tv. I’m getting ready to go lay down cause I’m still tired from staying up too late last night.
And I have so many of them! I coulda swore I had made a post between the last one you see and this one. Even remember putting in a short video of a Helo hanging over the back of the USS Turner Joy (DD-951) from my one and only WESTPAC. Damned if I can find it (the entry) though. Probably did it when I was playing with Vista Ultimate and lost the sucker. Ah well, that means that I get to start it all over again! Too bad for YOU! So, last
Saturday: Another year and a day older it was pretty much SSDD for me. SWMBO off to the Genealogy Library and me off to the property. Starting to push over more trees so I can make the ’dome’ hole bigger to handle the new house design.
Sunday: Did the first session of church. Put in a few hours at the property and still made it home in time to attend SWMBO’s choir thingie at the church. They put on their annual “Patriotic Concert” and it was pretty good. Of course I gave a good “HooRah” at the end of the USMC music.
Monday: Back out at the property pushing over trees for me for most of the day. We got the proposal from the architect. $2850 to draw up our plans. Phew! But from what I saw during our meeting last Friday he does good work. And it’s gotta be done before we can even begin to start building.
Tuesday: Back out at the property for most of the day pushing dirt and trees around. The weather has been absolutely beautiful these past few days! Of course when I get tired of pushing dirt around I take the time to lay out in the sun and read a bit. Tuesday evening was my usual: sitting around the house playing on my computer and watching tv. Had to reboot and the damned computer would get most of the way through rebooting and reboot again. Huh? Switched to my other XP disc and the same happened. Both would boot into safe mode just fine; but you can’t do anything in safe mode. Finally wound up putting in the Vista Ultimate disc and that booted fine. ????
Wednesday: Spent around the house getting those things done that I haven’t had time to do cause I’ve been at the property. As it was SWMBO’s usual Wednesday at the office it was me and Poop Dog turnin’-and-burnin’! Not that I accomplished anything you know… Finally put my usual XP disc in the computer, booted with the XP installation disc and went into the console. Ran CHKDSK /R and 4 hours later it was still only 53% done! Damn! So I went to bed and let it run all night (or until it finished, whichever came first).
Thursday: Today. Chkdsk was finished running this morning so I rebooted and it’s been working fine all day. ???? I’ll have to do my other XP disc tonight. Have had a minor but hanging in there headache most of the day so I’ve been hanging around the house doing laundry or whatever and keeping an eye on “The Twilight Zone Marathon” on SciFi. Just don’t feel like getting real active! We had a couple of thunder storms (mostly everywhere but right over head) and I caught a great peal of thunder while videoing some clouds yesterday; but nothing real close to our house. Downpour woke me up sometime really early but it didn’t last long. Damn, I wish this headache would go away!
C.S. Lewis: "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. "
